Look no further! Kaia Gerber luckily has a supermodel mother to reveal her wisdom, which she is kindly sharing with us – well Teen Vogue to be precise! Can you believe it??? We are completely shocked too!!!

Absorb the expert modelling tips from the one and only (drum roll please) Cindy Crawford to improve your modelling techniques.

1. Not just a pretty face – okay, we have all witnessed how Kaia has inherited her mother’s good looks being hailed her gorgeous mini-me!!! Don’t you agree? Yet Cindy has advised to always have a thought behind her expressions to be more than a ‘blank face.’ Conveying emotion and life through small facial expressions provides a deeper picture than relying solely on beautiful features to do the work.

2. Practice makes perfect – creating meaningful expressions and poses that translate well through the camera takes a LOT of practice. Unfortunately, body and facial awareness, posing correctly and expression come from taking the time to experiment in front of a mirror or friend/relative – a supermodel mum would be handy wouldn’t it!!!

3. Act your age – Cindy was reluctant to allow for her daughter to enter the modelling industry until she was 17. However, Kaia modelled for Young Versace when she was 10, igniting her passion leading to her mother agreeing to a career in modelling under her guidance helping her make the right choices from her own experiences. Kaia has now modelled for Teen Vogue, Vogue Italia and CR Fashion Book. It is very important for Cindy, that her daughter lives out her life according to her age and ‘preserve her childhood.’ Basically, a 14 year old should be able to act like a 14 year old – there is no rush!!

4. Keep it simple – Kaia keeps to a very minimal beauty routine usually leaving the house with a dot of concealer and curled eyelashes; a self proclaimed ‘beauty minimalist.’ It is key for a teenager to not pile on tons of make-up as designers and casting agents wish to see the real you. Do not try to act beyond your years as teenage modelling needs to appeal to the correct age. Kaia intends to look the same age as her peers and avoid affecting her skin through too much make-up – yes that is a thing!!!

5. Natural – a low key attitude is adopted to her hair with the teen model letting her fall naturally. ‘She likes to muss it up, flip it over, and let it fall naturally.’ Keeping a care-free approach keeps her long locks in great condition leaving the more elaborate looks for events and photoshoots. Avoiding a pristine look allows for her to feel comfortable and confident in her appearance.

6. Listen – Kaia has been very wise to listen to her mother who has valuable experience and contacts within the modelling industry. Taking advice from an expert is a must to keep you away from harm and to make correct decisions. Seek support from industry professionals to advise you in a competitive, cut throat world, which can attract scam artists who prey on young, naive hopefuls.
