This will include your name and contact details so that we can get in touch if we think your have the potential of becoming a model, plus your age and a recent photograph, preferably a headshot, so that we can assess your look and fit you into a potential modelling sector. At this stage we will be able to gather all of the necessary information to start things off without you having to leave Bristol.
What does the assessment day involve?
Once we have received your application and if we think you’ve got the potential to become a model, a member of our New Faces team will contact you and invite you to one of our assessment days in London.
This will be your opportunity to show your modelling skill set as you work with our team of high-end photographers, stylists and make-up artists to have a series of photographs taken. From this, UK Models will be able to gauge your potential in the market, what line of work may be best for you and conclusively we can guide you forward in the best way possible when it comes to approaching and signing with a model agency.
Getting to London.
Train: On average the train from Bristol Temple Meads to Paddington takes approximately 1 hour and 46 minutes. Book in advance to avoid the prices rising to an extortionate cost. From here jump on the tube to Regent’s Park Underground, which should take 5 minutes.
Car: The journey from Bristol to Great Portland Street takes roughly just over 2 hours if traffic allows. The drive to London can be very congested so it would be wise to leave earlier to avoid long delays. There are a lot of car parks nearby to leave your car for the day however, ensure you factor in the cost.
Coach: Book a coach from Bristol Bus Station to Victoria Coach Station for a cheaper option. The journey usual takes 2 hours and 33 mins and leaves hourly. Again, leave enough time for traffic delays or jump in a taxi if unsure of the underground tube system.
We tailor the assessment day to suit your needs.
Being able to work with you face to face will allow us to then tailor our advice for you personally. If you have a clear talent in front of the camera we will spend less time teaching you how to pose and perhaps more time educating you on finding agencies in and around Bristol.
Build a portfolio.
In order to arm you with everything that you will need to start looking for work, we will also start building your portfolio. This will consist of your ten best images from the day (which will have been airbrushed for a high-end finish) presented in a book or an online website specifically made for your modelling work.
On top of that we are happy to provide you with a CD of your pictures so that you can create re-prints at a later date or a set of Z-cards that you can keep in your handbag or back pocket and give out whenever necessary.
Return to the South West.
Our aim is to prepare you for the modelling industry in every way possible, and although we cannot guarantee that you will find work immediately or indeed in Bristol, our twelve years of experience ensures us that your time spent with UK Models will put you in a far stronger position than a great proportion of your modelling peers.
With a taster of what the modelling world is like you may feel ready to make the move to the big smoke. Alternatively, you may wish to begin working locally by finding a Bristol model agency and move further a field at a later date. Both options are perfectly realistic yet you may find more opportunities in the capital. It is time to evaluate your options and proceed towards your goal. If you do decide to relocate ensure that you are very prepared for the move.
Attending a casting is a huge part of the role for a male and female model. Even successful models who are working regularly must go to lots of appointments to be selected for a role. A casting model is expected to arrive on time, be confident and showcase their talent to secure a model part.
