Retrain Your Brain

First of all, start thinking more positively. We all have those moments where nothing is right. However, self-acceptance is the key to feeling happier in yourself. Accepting and liking every flaw rather than trying to hide or change too much will allow for you to feel less self-doubt. It’s not about categorising individuals into unattractive and attractive people but celebrating your uniqueness.

If you feel as though you a falling into that negative view of yourself get out of the house and away from the mirror.

Thrusting yourself into a new situation will lift your spirits and when you return you will most likely think very differently about your body image. Also, force yourself to stand in front of the mirror and list all your positives.

Work Out and Eat Healthily

If you constantly wish for thinner thighs and shinier hair do something about it. Start working out to strengthen and tone your thighs, eat healthier to improve your skin and nails and look into products that will help you get the glossy locks you want.

Simply just complaining about certain aspects of your physique will not change a single thing. For example, if you feel as though your arms are your worst feature start doing exercises that will tone your muscles making your biceps stronger and shapely.

Don’t Compare Yourself to Other People

During those episodes of self-doubt, the worst thing you can do is compare yourself to others whether it be good friends, family members, celebrities, complete strangers or those you follow on social media.

If you’re the kind of person who values their self-worth based on other people’s looks, achievements or relationships, it’s time to stop.

Remember social media is a romantic edit of someone’s life. The happy times when life is going their way. Some but not many post the negative aspects or the way they truly feel about their lives, physical features, romantic partner.

Those carefully curated squares of happy relationships, successful careers and perfect children are a glimpse into their life. The positive things that happen during that week. In the real world, the reality is most likely much different. People’s insecurities are very rarely seen.

If you start to feel yourself comparing your life to someone else’s, remember we are all different. You will reach your goal when you are ready. Come off all social media for a few days, a month even, while you build your self-esteem back up again. After a break up in your love life can also be a time to have an Instagram and Facebook hiatus.

Believe it or not, most people are insecure about one body part or possibly more. Therefore, speaking to a good friend that you trust will reveal just this. It’s most likely what they view as a flaw you will deem their best feature and vice versa.

Being open, kind and supportive to each other will make you realise that this insecurity could be the reason why you are hired for a modelling job. The tall height you despised as a teenager is adored by those in the fashion industry.

If you start to worry about yours or a friends mental health, seek professional advice. Just speaking to someone can really change your way of thinking and get to the root cause of your self-doubt. Support groups are another way of helping boost confidence, low self-esteem and self-worth, getting to the real problem lingering underneath.

It’s time to highlight your best features. Hire a personal stylist to give you some expert advice on shapes that suit your body type and colours that work with your skin tone. You will feel much more comfortable walking into that casting or photoshoot.
