5 Thoughts Every Girl Has Getting Ready

  • Claire Louise

Whether you’re heading off to work, a photoshoot, or for a big night out, there are loads of things which come into play for a majority of women and girls, which really don’t make sense – especially when you’re in a rush. Why oh why do we tend to procrastinate so much?! If these thoughts look familiar to you, you’re not alone…

“JUST FIVE MORE MINUTES…!”

It doesn’t matter how much you prepare yourself by getting to bed early, if you’re not a morning person, you’re just not a morning person! Whether you’re hitting snooze a thousand times or you’re mentally ticking off a list of things that you can skip from your routine to give you more time, somehow this just never gets easier. When it’s cold and dark outside, who can blame you?!

“OH MY GOD, I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!”

A wardrobe absolutely full and brimming with clothing apparently constitutes as having absolutely zero options in terms of what to wear. We really should appreciate what we have more, or learn to toss the things we don’t like, but somehow hoarding and then complaining in equal measures seems to be a better option. It isn’t. Apparently, we should select our outfits the night before. It just seems like so much effort…

“SHALL I WASH MY HAIR? YES? NO. NO WAIT, YES. DEFINITELY!”

Having clean hair is obviously super important. However, different girls can get away with unwashed hair for longer than others. Some girls have to wash their hair every day if it’s super oily, whilst other women are luckier and can go 2, 3 or even 4 days without. Of course, there are those who argue that we don’t need to wash our hair at all, but that doesn’t help us when it’s 8am, we’re running late for work or school, and our hair is so badly plastered to our heads that we might even have to forego make up to get it sorted!

“WHERE THE HELL IS ____?”

Whether it’s your bag, purse, keys or your phone, it doesn’t matter – there will almost always be something you can’t find. Of course, if you’re blessed with super organisational skills, perhaps this isn’t you, but the rest of us experience panic which ranges from swearing through to full blown anxiety attacks on a regular basis. Pro tip? Check in your hands. Seriously, it’s amazing how often we lose things that are literally right in front of our noses!

“DID MY ___ ALWAYS LOOK SO ___?!”

Whether you’re wondering whether your nose always looked so big or whether your hair always looked so flat, we could all afford to be a little kinder to ourselves. In the modelling world, there’s a lot of pressure to be a certain way looks-wise, but the body shaming all women experience daily does NOT need to continue at home. If you’re getting ready and you feel your confidence deflating, don’t waste another minute. Tell yourself that you’re awesome, instead.

What have we missed? Do you do the things above? Let us know!
